Model United Nations

You have to take ownership and leadership of tomorrow. For that to be possible, you have to strengthen your capacity and widen your vision as a global citizen.

– UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.

Model United Nations (MUN) is a simulation of the United Nations and other multilateral bodies. By replicating the committees and agendas of the UN, following proper parliamentary procedure and building a formal environment with an atmosphere of debate, collaboration and problem solving, MUN allows students to experience the highest level of international relations that exists today. Among other things, it teaches the intricacy and delicacy with which conversation must occur; delegates must keep their country’s view first, but still try and convince other delegates over to his/her side of thinking, to reach common consensus.

Model United Nations also expands students’ knowledge about the United Nations, the various agencies of the UN and their mandates, various international instruments, raises awareness about diverse global issues and most importantly, the work being done by the United Nations.

Apart from expanding their knowledge about the dynamics of international affairs and processes, MUN also deeply ingrains many vital life skills such as:

  • Research Skills
  • Leadership Skills
  • Diplomatic Skills
  • Problem Solving
  • Conflict Resolution
  • Communication Skills
